Maryland State Inspection Checklist

There are up to 100 different items that get checked during a Maryland Safety Inspection. This can take the inspector approximately 2-3 hours to complete this task. A few items that you should check before bringing your vehicle into us include:
  • Doors—make sure all doors open and close from the inside and out
  • Windows—driver’s side window needs to be operational, in the event that hand signals need to be used
  • Windshield—windshields need to be free from chips and cracks
  • Seatbelts—all seatbelts need to latch and unlatch as designed
  • Lug nuts--check to make sure all lug nuts are present
  • Lights-check to make sure all exterior lights work, including tag lights, brake lights, fog lights (if equipped), turn signals, head lights, etc, and that lenses are not broken
  • Wipers—check wiper blade condition and make sure they can clear the windshield
  • Mirrors—mirrors must be present and functional. Power mirrors must operate by switch in any direction.
  • Seat operation—drivers seat needs to adjust/function as designed
  • Rust-body panels can have no rust holes or jagged edges
  • Hood-ensure hood opens easily and will latch securely
